Custom Sunroom and Patio in Potomac, MD

This sun room and patio design for a Potomac, MD homeowner features a round sun room with double casement windows.  The conical roof extends above the gable 'walk through' and provides a wonderful space for our clients to enjoy meals and entertain friends.  A flagstone patio complete with sitting wall and a fire pit provide our door living space.  After some landscaping this back yard will be complete.

Screen Porch and Patio Design Potomac, Maryland

This design was a challenge because the patio and walkway were existing from a previous construction.  The idea for this project was to add a low maintenance screen room to the back yard to protect these Potomac, MD homeowners away from the bugs.  The previous owners were big into hardscaping and had created a large patio, stairs, sitting walls, outdoor fireplace, and walkway, so integrating the new screen room had its difficulties.  We decided a door location tight to the house would be best to maximize furniture space on the interior of the screen porch.  A patio walkway was added to connect the screen porch to the existing patio.  The existing plant bed was changed and manipulated to fit around the new screen enclosure.  Decorative local shrubs are installed around the porch to hide the area under the deck.

Half Synthetic and Half Wood Screen Porch Bethesda

Not all projects have to be either 100% synthetic or 100% natural wood.  A good way to save cost as well as blend material is to install low maintenance vinyl decking and build a typical wooden screen porch structure on the deck.  Your deck gets the brunt of the wear and tear.  Water can pool and the UV rays hit the horizontal surface directly.  Low maintenance decking is advised for longetivy of your deck boards.  However, an area that doesn't face as much damage are the posts, railings, and beams of the screen porch.  Becasue they are installed vertically, water cannot pool.  The posts and rails aren't as effected by the UV rays as well.  So, installing wooden posts and rails on a low maintnenace deck is a wonderful way to save cost on a project and also get the 'woodsy' feel you are going for.  This project features Azek Decking Morado Color and have pine posts and rails installed and stained to match.  Sometimes synthetic material isn't the best choice, especially on an older bricke home.  To see more examples of our projects visit our webiste and flickr portfolio.

Screen Porch construction is a great way to avoid insects in the outdoor living area.  Screen rooms can be built on both decks and patios.  Add a fireplace and you've got yourself a luxurious outdoor living space!

Covered Deck and Patio in Rockville, Maryland

This project features a covered deck pavilion, flagstone patio, and cedar pergola.  A hot tub is installed in the deck with access from the patio in front.  The patio and pavilion are located on the 18th hole of Manor Country club allowing for wonderful views of the 17th green and the 18th hole's tee box.  Low voltage lighting and low maintenance shrubs are installed around the space to soften the lines.  A cedar ceiling with two ceiling fans protect the home owners from the sun on a hot summers day.  The flagstone patio has plenty of room for outdoor dining and recreation.

Custom Screen Enclosure in North Bethesda, Maryland

Custom 16'x16' screen room located in North Bethesda, Maryland.  This project features Redland Rose Azek decking installed with Cortex Plug hidden fasteners.  Oversized 6'' columns are detailed with crown moulding, base moulding and ogee moudling.  Sconces are placed on the columns to provide additional lighting to the overhead ceiling fan that hangs from a cedar beam.  Cedar rafters painted white accent the cedar tongue and groove ceiling.

Round Deck, Paver Patio, and Low Maintenance Screen Room in Potomac, MD

Screen Room, Deck and Patio in Potomac, MD

 

Custom Round Deck, Paver Patio, and Low Maintenance Screen Room located in Potomac, Maryland. This project was built in Two Phases. First we created the screen room. One year later we came back to build the round Azek deck and the Belgard brick patio. The patio provides ample space to entertain and the sitting wall allows multiple guests to sit while enjoying a meal outside. The screen room, which is is 20x16, has enough space for a large table, chairs, and additional sofa seating. The deck, brick, and trim color match well with the existing house.

This is a view of the interior of a custom screen room built in Potomac, Maryland.  Cathedral ceilings are accented with two open gables, trimmed beams, and a decorative ceiling fan.  Pine bead board is installed and stained.  We do not recommend staining pine as it is difficult to take, but that was the mandate of our client.  Oversized columns and decorative circles are installed for an extra detail.  Brazilian IPE flooring in installed inside and out.
